Summer Trip to Galveston 2013

We had gone back and forth on weather we should or could go anywhere on a trip this summer. And thankfully we were able to pull together a quick escape! Galveston has always been Michael's and my choice for a quick trip to the beach. This trip will have made our 7th time together (our 2nd time with kids)!

The kids had a blast! We had lots of swimming in the pool (which was J's favorite), playing on the beach (B's favorite), and eating good seafood (Michael and my favorites!)!!! We rented an apartment on the beach. It was awesome. We woke up, ate a quick bite, went down to the beach for a few hours. We splash in the waves and play in the sand. At lunch, the boys would go to the pool and I would go up and make lunch. I would join them, poolside, we would eat and jump back into the pool for a hour or so! Then we would go upstairs and NAP! It was Ben's nap time, but it was so nice, quiet and cold that we all ended up sleeping! It was nice! Then we would get up and go into the city for dinner and a drive or something! It was perfect! We did this for 3 days, wish it could have been more!

Sorry I haven't posted in while, after the trip, we only had a few weeks until school started! We were going, going, going every day to enjoy the last of our time together before KINDERGARTEN!!! I will do my best to get caught back up on all the super cute stories and pictures of the boys!

Oh and I miss-placed the camera I took on this trip, again, so I don't have all the photo's I took. These are all from my iPhone.

The Sam Houston statue is in Huntsville, TX. We always pass it on our comings and goings, but never stopped before. Well, Jonathan needed a pit stop, so we decided to make it into a touristy thing! It is a really cool statue! (That is us at the bottom, by the way)

The cool thing about this apartment, it has built in bunk beds! The boys loved having their own little space. (although, at night, Ben slept in his pack and play.)

Bunk Beds!!

I love this picture of Michael and Jonathan! They are such best buds! We are eating at our favorite, Shrimp'n'Stuff.

Me and my little buddy!

Daddy dug a hole and put water in it to start the process of building a sand castle...but Ben saw it as a perfect little spot for him!

Silly guy!

Michael's cool castle!

The new Paradise Pier, where the Flagship Hotel used to be.

Ben and me on the Ferry Boat!
We took the Ferry Boat from Galveston to Bolivar Peninsula. This is another Ferry that we passed along the way. The boys thought is was all so cool!

We found an awesome beach with literally NO ONE on it. We went shell searching.

My favorite picture of the trip!

I loved the way the sand looked.

He loved walking in the water.

Back at the apartment ready to swim!!!

ONLY ONES AT THE POOL, only for a little bit, but it was nice while it lasted!

Jonathan pointed out these flowers and said they were beautiful. I told him that they were called Hibiscus. He looked at me strangely and said, "Hi-biscuits? That's weird." I couldn't stop laughing! So I made him go take a picture with them!

Lovin' the beach! Michael is flying a kite while the boys are running to catch the shadow of the kite!

Crashed hard at nap time!

Poor guy, he had to be tired to take a nap! He is with his favorite pal, Lamb.

For dinner that evening we went to the Fisherman's Wharf. This was my favorite evening. The weather was perfect, the boys were great, the food was amazing!

Hollywood stole my sunglasses!

The birds are pretty aggressive at these water front restaurants. While it is a bit annoying for you and I, the boys thought they were AWESOME!

Me and My Love on the deck at the Fisherman's Wharf!

Jonathan didn't believe that they were "real" fish.

After dinner we walked the Strand in downtown. We took a horse drawn carriage (Those pictures are on the missing camera). Then we went to a sweet shop! The boys got a cone of chocolate ice cream and Michael and I shared a chocolate milkshake.

Chocolates, Chocolates!!!!! But, sadly, the chocolates I bought melted on the way home and then they were too gross to eat, so I threw them away. :-(

The Cat's Game on the 3rd of July

It's a little over a month late, but I am getting caught up on my blogs! On the 3rd of July, we met up with the Day's to go see the Fort Worth Cat's Baseball game! It's our minor league team! It was lots of fun! The kids enjoyed it! We were all looking forward to the fireworks afterward! The game went into the 11th inning and seemed as though it would never end...but then they paused the game so we could see the fireworks! We were happy, but I felt for the teams! This is something that we will definitely do again (I hope)!

The cutie cousins walking in with Michael!

Scarlet and Jonathan!

Amy with the all the kids!

Ben stayed in Amy's lap almost all night! He loves his aunt Amy!

Dinner time! Ben thought it would be a good idea to dip his hot dog in Michael's nacho cheese.

And it was yummy!

Waylen with his sweeties!

An old World War 2 Bomber Plane flew over. It was really cool!

The kids checking out the plane!

Cutie JJ!

Baseball Game!

Okay this was my favorite part! Will was SOOOOOO excited that he and Waylen bought Cotton Candy for all the kids! It was so unbelievably precious! Just look at the expressions on his face!

These sweeties are best buds. Amy and I didn't even plan their matching shirts!

Ben is making Amy look at something.

Jonathan with Dodger the Cat! Ben freaked and wouldn't go near him!

FIREWORKS! YAY!!!! FINALLY!!!! They were awesome!

Ben's first time seeing fireworks! I wasn't sure how he would do, but he LOVED them! Yay!

Michael and me as we were leaving!

Obviously not my picture...I stole this from the Fort Worth Facebook Page. This from downtown FW looking down, over the courthouse, at the Baseball game firework show. I thought it was pretty cool! And yes, that is the new Drive In Movie Theater! We can't wait to try it!

Date Nights

I don't know about you, but I don't remember my parents going on many date nights when I was a kid. Maybe it's because I wasn't actually with them? I remember having babysitters. I loved going with mom to help pick up the sitter! So I guess they did go out??... Well when Michael and I have been on date nights recently, I have snapped a picture of us so we can remember that we actually did go out, ALONE and have fun! -- So this post is for Jonathan and Ben to know that we did go on dates! :-)

When you have young kids, it makes a little bit harder to get out on a date (well at least for us it is). Finding a babysitter that you trust is the biggest thing, and then one you can afford is another thing! Ha! We hired our very first non-family-member when Ben was 1 1/5!!! That made Jonathan 4 1/5!! In other words, we relied on family to babysit for 4 1/2 years! We are so thankful to the family members that did help out to let us get out once and a while. Pat, Olga, Anna Marie, Amy, Holly & Jim!!

Even in that 4 1/2 years, we would only really go out on Birthday, Anniversary's and maybe Valentines Day. In other words, 3-5 times a year. So once we took the step to find someone and it worked out good, we continued to try to get out at least once a month, give or take! ...I highly recommend it for ALL couples, but especially parents of young kids! It has been lots of fun! Michael and I always have a blast together!

We are at my cousin Justin's wedding reception in Fort Worth. It was a very fun night with family. Since we would be gone later than the boys bedtime, we asked Anna Marie to sit with the kids, since I hadn't let anyone else put Ben down before.

Our anniversary last year (2012) at the Arboretum in Dallas. Pat took care of the kids so we could get away for the afternoon!

At Bass Hall waiting to go see Brian Regan preform.

Star Trek Into Darkness in 3D!!! Pat took care of the kids so we could go see a movie! And an awesome movie it was!

Date Lunch! During one of the days I took the boys to Day School. I drove to Dallas to pick Michael up for lunch! We went to Campisi's on Mockingbird, our favorite place to have lunch! We always build our own pizza...Meatballs, Artichokes and Mushrooms, it is very yummy!

At Sweet Sammie's in Fort Worth, after dinner at Fireside Pies. Next stop, Brian Regan show at Bass Hall! We are sharing a brownie sundae. Another late night, so we asked Anna Marie to sit with the kids.

My 33rd Birthday (2012). At Silver Fox in Grapevine. We had an AMAZING dinner there! But there were flash floods outside!

T-Shirt Crafting

My boys love to paint and T-shirt painting is a popular craft these days that I have been wanting to try! So we invited our neighbors the Mill's down to join us! It was lots of fun and I am very impressed with what the kids created!

Eating lunch before we get started!

Jonathan helped me tape out his shirt before they arrived, he was very excited to get started painting it.

The girls working hard.

Reagan, Mandy and Riley!

So proud!
