Good-bye Old Mill Run

Amy and I sold my parents house this past month. It was an extremely difficult thing to do, but now that it is done, and we know the people who will be living there, I feel very good about things.
We closed and handed over the keys on Dec 6, the Friday before, Jonathan and I went together and took a lot of photos and tried to have fun (it's hard not to with this little guy!)! I thought some of you would like to see them too...(okay some of these photo's were taken at an earlier date)



I love this kitchen. They did such a great job updating it.

We painted the dinning room just a week before the offer came in. Amy and I both really liked the paint job, it brighten and made the room twice as big!

So many fun memories in this tub! When we were a lot younger, we would put on our bathing suits and fill the tub with bubble bath and then turn on the jets! It would make the bubbles over flow! It was so much fun!



This is the under the stairs closet. One of my favorite places in the house when we first moved in (I was 7).

This was also one of my favorite features of the house. The room with the built in desk. Amy and I argued over who got that room. She won cause she was the older sister. I ended up getting the better deal after all!!! Her room was directly over mom and dad's room and they could hear almost everything she did!!! HAHA! I was over the garage! No one cared how late I stayed up or how loud my music was!!!




This is new flooring that Amy and I installed just before putting the house on the market in March.

Theron James Ewert

My father-in-law Theron James Ewert passed away on 10/10/10 at the age of 70 (only a month away from turning 71). I loved him very dearly. He has been like a father figure to me ever since Michael and I started dating 11 years ago. He would always go out of his way to make me feel welcome and ask me about my life and my family. He was so caring and sweet. I am very thankful to him for not just what he meant to me, but what an amazing father he was to Michael, Anna Marie and James. He was also an amazing husband to Pat. You could really see how much they loved each other and they had a really neat relationship. Michael and I are very lucky that we were both raised in homes with loving parents, who loved each other and us...we plan on passing that same love on to our children. Thank you for the great example, Theron.

Ewert, Theron On October 10, 2010, Theron J. Ewert passed into the arms of his Savior. Born on November 17, 1939, Theron was the eldest of three sons born to Albert and Thelma Johnson Ewert of Newton, Kansas. After playing lineman for the Newton Railroaders and graduating from Newton High School, Theron moved to Dallas to attend SMU. It was there during their freshman year that Theron met Pat Pickett on a blind date at an SMU football game.

Theron and Pat were married June 2, 1961, at Cox Chapel of Highland Park United Methodist Church. Their children are James who married Debbie Grant; Michael who married Julie Ramage and who is the father of Jonathan; and Anna Marie who married Brian Pittman.

Theron began work as a draftsman at Lummus Cotton Gin Company while he was an engineering student in the co-op program at SMU. He continued to work for Lummus even though he switched majors. Theron earned a BBA from Cox School of Business at SMU and later a MLA. In 1967 Theron began work for LTV. Theron retired from Northrop Grumman Aerospace in 2000 after 33 years of dedicated service, many years with perfect attendance.

He was Committee Chairman of Troop 1233 Boy Scouts of America. He worked with Amigo Days and Habitat of Humanity. He was an avid woodworker and he enjoyed travel. He was one of the founding members and past president of both the Agape Sunday School class and the United Methodist Men. Theron is to be remembered as a caring husband of 49 years, a loving father and grandfather, and a faithful and active worker at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church for 47 years, many of those one the Buildings and Grounds and the last two Building Committees.

Theron is preceded in death by his father Albert Ewert and his mother Thelma Johnson Ewert; father-in-law, Herbert Pickett.

He is survived by his brothers Darrell John Ewert and David Walter Ewert; wife Patricia Pickett Ewert; children James and Debbie Ewert, Michael and Julie Ewert, and Anna Marie and Brian Pittman; mother-in-law, Olga Pickett; 1 grandson, Jonathan; 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family ask donation be made to American Cancer Society , American Diabetes Foundation or Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. A private burial will be held at Restland. A celebration of Theron's life will be Wednesday, October 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, Shipp Chapel.
